The home base fans sits tight to see how prepared their darling Indomitable Lions are, for the FIFA Confederation cup in Russia 2017 (June 17-July2) as they clash with the Atlas Lions of Morocco in the Yaounde Amadou Ahidjo omnisport stadium tomorrow come 3pm local time.
The match will be counting for the first round qualifier of the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) 2019 that will be taking place in Cameroon.
Though the lions are automatically qualified for the completion, the new FIFA rules requires them to play the qualifiers as this will help keep the host team fit and also give a good level to the competition when it kicks off . Coach Hugo Bross thinks it is just another opportunity for him do some regulations in his team since he has a hard nut to crack in Russia in just a week.
Morocco and Cameroon have faced each other four times in the football pitch at the highest level, in which Cameroon came out victorious two times and drew the other two times. It should be recalled that the Indomitable Lions of Thomas Nkono, Mbida Gregoir Arantes and co, stopped the Atlas Lion from participating in the 1982 Spain world cup. In 2010 the Moroccans stumbled again on the same opponent. So in a nutshell, one could term Cameroon the waterloo of the Moroccans as far as football is concerned at the highest level.
Immediately after that match, Benjamin Mukanjo and his teammates will be heading to Spain where they will face the Colombian national side for a friendly against the confederation cup.
