A 15 years old form 3 student in the Nkolbisson High School Yaounde (Cameroon) this afternoon stabbed his Mathematics teacher with a compass to death. Reports say that the student was very distracted while the teacher was teaching in front of the class. When the teacher noticed him, and trying to find out what the student was doing, he noticed that the said student was using a mobile phone in class.

When the teacher asked the student to give him the phone, he refused and as the teacher tried to seize the phone, because the school law forbids the use of phones in class, the student opposed a stiff resistance, such that it became a tussle between the both. It was in the heat of the action that the young boy grabbed a compass and stabbed his teacher to the chock of all other students whose shouting as they say blood alerted the school authorities who rushed 25 years old Njoni Tchakounte Maurice to the hospital but unfortunately he will not reach the Yaounde teaching hospital. He died on his way as he had loos too much blood. It is a very sad situation. Our society is slowly swaying to the negative side. Lately there have been too many cases of teacher who have been manhandled either by parents, by authorities or by the students themselves. It was just left for a situation of a teacher losing his life like today. But hardly have we ever heard the concerned authorities come out to condemn or restore the authority of the teacher- dispenser of knowledge that we earlier know. How do we blame? The society, the authorities, or the parents? We are all responsible. Let’s go back to our families and teach our children some morals.
