CAMEROON: ETOO’S SON MAKES DEBUT IN TO INDOMITABLE LIONS
Etienne Etoo, son of ex indomitable lions’ captain makes his debut in to the national team. At the time that the father waves a farewell to the pitches the son makes his entry. Young Etienne playing for the under 17 side of the Spanish football club Real Majorca was sent an invitation by the Cameroon football federation officials (FECAFOOT) to join the U-17 side of the Cameroon national team in preparation for the U-17 world cup to be held in Brazil 2019. The young lad might join his new team mates in Istambul- Turkey to prepare for the international competitions, then they will later move to Brazilia.
Howe ver there is a controversy surrounding the legend’s son’s invitation to join the U-17 national squat. Chapter 111, article 7 and line 3 of the 2014 Presidential decree rearranging the national teams of Cameroon stipulates that, for selection of players into the U-15 and U-17 football squats of Cameroon, only players registered in competitions organized by FECAFOOT could be selected.
As such Etienne Etoo who is playing with the Real Majorca U-17 in Spain is not eligible to be part of the U-17 Indomitable Lions to go for the world cup of that category in Brazil. Except that the president comes up with another decree to amend things in his favor.
