AFCON 2019: Indomitable lions of Cameroon finally leaves for Egypt.
Cameroon’s men national football team the Indomitable Lions finally took off this afternoon at some minutes past 4pm local time to Egypt where they will defend their tittle in the 32nd edition of the African Cup of Nations 2019. After staying back home for one extra day to express their dissatisfaction as concern the amount of money (20 million francs CFA) given to them as match bonuses in the competition that will kick off tonight at 9pm local time. The 23 players were expecting a sum of 40 million francs. The boys got very angry and decided not to go for the completion when they were given half the money stated in earlier arrangements with the National football federation FECAFOOT.
After holding an all-night meeting last Thursday 21June 2019 with the minister of sports and physical education Dr Narssice Muelle Kombi, the president of FECAFOOT Mr Seidou Mbombo Njoya, head coach Clarence Seedorf and the player’s representatives, a performance bonus of 5million francs was promised to the current African champions for the first match that will be won in the first stage of the competition, reports Cmfoot.
Meanwhile their female counterparts the Indomitable Lionesses qualified yesterday for round two ofs the 8th edition of the women’s world cup taking place in France. The girls qualified with a 2 goals to 1 win over the New Zeeland female team. The two goals were scored by Nchout Njoya Ajara with her fantastic 2nd goal that is already considered best goal pending the end of the tournament.
